Frequently Asked Questions
-
How can I schedule a
campus visit?
-
What is orientation and
do I need to attend?
-
Attending college is a major life transition. As a student,
whether you move away from home or continue living with family,
you’ll assume greater responsibility for yourself, meet a wide
variety of people, and adjust to the academic demands of college.
Orientation is a free program which includes all meals, educational
and social activities. With this in mind, orientation will provide
you with an opportunity through which you will begin the process of
transitioning to your new environment. At the orientation session
and throughout your first year, we will introduce you to valuable
services, academic information and a variety of resources critical
for success. It is strongly encouraged that all new Freshmen,
Transfer, and International students admitted for Fall 2008 attend.

How and when do I
register for classes?
-
As a new student,
your Admissions Counselor is responsible for scheduling your
classes. You can contact them directly or via the general
Admissions number at (302) 225-6248. If you are a returning
student, you would need to set up an appointment with your Academic
Advisor and can reach them at (302) 225-6265.
-
When will I be able to move into the residence halls?
-
Move-in day is the
Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 5:00 p.m. before classes begin. You need to
contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life via email prior to
August 20, 2008 by 4:00 p.m.
in order to make special move-in arrangements.
-
If you will be arriving after the start
of the first day of the semester, you will be able to move into the
residence halls on the day you arrive. You will need to arrange with
the Office of Housing and Residence Life, so you are able to pick up
your residence hall key if it is after-hours. In addition, you may
also want to contact your professors to make them aware of when and
why you will miss any classes.
-
I am an International
student. What if I am unable to make the scheduled orientation
time?
-
I am a student with a
disability. How do I get accommodations at GBC?
-
GBC provides a
variety of resources that support
students
with disabilities. You may
wish to contact Candace Bottani at
(302) 225-6248, or
nso@gbc.edu, to discuss further what resources would be
available for your specific situation.
