Southern Delaware enjoys temperatures that run about two degrees higher. Temperatures along the Atlantic Coast are usually a few degrees warmer in winter and a few degrees cooler in summer. August, which has the second hottest temperatures after July, is also the rainiest month, with an average precipitation of about 5.5 inches (140 mm), and February has the least precipitation, an average of almost 3 inches (76 mm). Average annual precipitation is approximately 45 inches (1,143 mm). About 57% of the days are sunny.
