The men’s cross country team has experienced
a lot of success in the past few years, relying on their returning all
conference runners. The team is made up of mostly new harriers, but the
young talent has the potential to surpass last year’s fifth place finish
at the conference meet. Two freshman that run like veterans are James
Townsend from Middletown High School and Steve Pavina from Glasgow High
School, both top runners from their high school programs. The biggest
surprise is from a virtual unknown Andrew Madden who attended Bo Manor
High School last year. Andrew has already stepped on to the course and
taken a leadership position. Other new talent that still needs to
develop is freshman Andy Slowak from Red Lion School and grad student
Soufine Sadikina from Morocco. The experience on the team will come from
returning varsity runners Mike Williams and Randy Jones. Both of these
men will have to help raise the level of competition on the team to
provide a legitimate run after the trophy at the conference meet. Two
new sophomores that will compete at the varsity level this season are
Seneca Curry and Andrew Hadam. The team has the pre-season makings of
one of Goldey-Beacom’s best.
