MADISON, NJ (September
26, 2004) – The
Goldey-Beacom College women’s cross country team took fourth place while the
men took sixth at the Drew Invitational Saturday afternoon in New Jersey.
The Lightning women finished with 88 points, which placed
them behind Albright College (29 points), Drew
University (56 points), and Fairleigh
Dickinson-Florham (86 points) and ahead of NJCU (123 points) and Dominican College (130 points).
Freshman Katie Lewis
(Newark, DE)
finished in sixth-place for the women in the 6K with a time of 22:34. She was
followed by freshman Jessica Kaszeta (Wilmington, DE) in
ninth place with a time of 23:17, junior Brandy
Ash (Dagsboro, DE)
in 20th place with a time of 26:58, senior Nonhlanhla Maseko (Swaziland)
at 28:55 and junior Lu Lu Maseko (Swaziland)
in 27th place with a time of 28:57.
On the men’s side, Goldey-Beacom tallied 117 points, which
placed them behind Kean University (42 points), Albright
College (62 points), Lebanon Valley
College (92 points), USMAPS (95
points) and William Patterson University
(107) and ahead of Fairleigh Dickson-Florham (185 points), NJCU (208 points)
and Dominican College (284 points).
Junior Brad Paski (Wilmington, DE)
was the top finisher for the men, coming in ninth place in the 8K with a time
of 30:06. Sophomore Mickey Jones
(Newark, DE) finished behind Paski in 18th place with a time of
31:19, followed by sophomore Matt Lang
(Chestertown, MD) in 20th place at 31:38, junior Chip Lewis (Newark, DE) in 34th
place at 32:46, sophomore Brian Kirk
(Wilmington, DE) at 33:49 and freshman Alan
Passwaters (Houston, DE) in 47th place with a time of 36:31.
Both team’s return to action next
Saturday, October 2 when they compete in the Belmont Classic.
