Katy Ellis was selected to the All-CACC second team as she led the team with 8 goals and 1 assist for a total of 17points. The Lady Lightning made their seventh consecutive post-season appearance. Season ending injuries led to an early exit for the 2005 runner–ups. The team will lose seniors Kelli Parsons, Janine Littlie, Jennifer Dunlap, Erin Mahoney, April Yanacek, and Stephanie Steele and head coach Rob Miller. A new coach and new players will try to carry on the winning tradition at Goldey-Beacom College in 2007.

The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning finished the 2005 season with a 10-11 (6-4 CACC) record under first-year coach Rob Miller. The Lightning came alive in the CACC Tournament and finished in 2nd place, losing to Holy Family, 0-3. The team went on an eight-game winning streak before losing in the CACC Championship game. April Yanacek and Lori Knabb both were named to the All-CACC First Team and Yanacek, Kelli Parsons, and Jennifer Brown were named to the All-CACC Tournament Team. 2004 Recap

The 2004 Goldey-Beacom College women’s soccer page posted a 6-11-2 (5-4-1 CACC) record in 2004, which was good enough to clinch the No. 5 seed in the CACC Tournament. The Lightning took on No. 4 Dominican College and stayed even with the eventual conference champion for 73 minutes before the Chargers tallied the game-winning goal. The season wasn’t without its highlights, however. Senior Kristin Johnston (Delaware City, DE) – already the school’s all-time leading scorer with 85 points (32 G, 21 A) – and classmate Michelle Banco (Pennsville, NJ) (10 G, 9 A career) moved into a tie for No. 1 all-time in games played at GBC. Additionally, junior Lori Knabb (Paulsboro, NJ) earned her third-consecutive All-CACC Second Team selection as she led the team in scoring with 22 points (8 G, 6 A). Knabb wasn’t the only member of the Lightning to garner CACC honors, however, as Johnston was selected to the CACC Tournament Team after closing out her record-setting career with a goal in the team’s loss to Dominican in the first round of the CACC Tournament. The Lighting also saw the emergence of freshman Alexis Frederick (Hockessin, DE), who finished fourth on the team in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists. Goldey-Beacom began the season with a 10-0 rout of Columbia Union College and also posted wins over Bloomfield College (3-0), NJIT (3-0), Felician College (2-1), Teikyo Post University (2-1) and Georgian Court College (2-1).

2003 Recap

The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning finished the 2003 season with a record of 8-7-1.  The team once again qualified for post-season play by finishing 2nd in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season with a 7-2-1 conference record.  Chosen to host the CACC conference playoffs, GBC fell in the first round, 5-4, in an exciting end to end game against Felician College.

The Lightning faced some tough challenges early on in the season as they lost defender and tri-captain, Carrie L'Italien to an injury the day before pre-season began, played a tough out of conference schedule, and fielded a roster composed of over 50% freshman or transfers.  Many of the new players quickly found a spot for themselves on the team and became key contributors.  Freshman Stephanie Steele played every minute in goal for the Lightning this season, finishing with a 1.25 GAA, second best in the conference, and 7 shutouts.

Sophomore Lori Knabb led GBC in the scoring columns with 8 goals and 9 assists, which was good enough to make her the conference leader in assists, and 4th in total points (25).   Kelli Parsons chipped in with 19 points, followed by Kristin Johnston's 13 points, and Amy Shane's and April Yanacek's 8 points each.

The team received several honors throughout the season including 2 conference Player of the Week nominations, Stephanie Steele the week of 9/15 and Lori Knabb the week of 11/3.  Additionally two players were on the conference Honor Roll, Lori Knabb the week of 10/4, and Kelli Parsons the week of 11/10.  GBC also placed three players on All-Conference teams.  Kristin Hanna was the lone defender in the conference voted to First team All-CACC, while goalkeeper Stephanie Steele and midfielder/forward Lori Knabb were both placed on the Second team All-CACC.

2002 Recap

The 2002 Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team completed its season with a 16-5-1 record, the most successful in the team's three year history. The team once again qualified for post-season play, by finishing the regular season in 2nd place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

Selected as the host site for the NAIA Region 10 Independent Tournament, the Lightning matched up against Holy Family College, a rival CACC opponent. For the first time in 3 years, the GBC women's soccer team was able to upset their conference foe, in a dramatic overtime game, decided with penalty kicks. The season came to an end in the final against the region's #1 seeded Green Mountain College (VT), 1-0 in overtime play.
Despite struggling through numerous injuries, including the loss of junior Captain Amy Shane, this year's team established records in goals scored (54), goals against (18), goals against average (.86), most wins (16), and fewest defeats (5). Freshman Renee Brechter paced the team with 38 points, followed by sophomore Kristin Johnston's 24 pts., freshman Lori Knabb's 23 pts., and sophomore Michele Banco's 23 pts.

The defense was anchored by senior Cheryl Besosa, junior's Kristin Hanna, Carrie L'Italien, Bernice Kennelly, and Ellen Hedenborg. Sophomore GK Alexis Bastien posted an impressive .86 goals against average, while recording 7 shut-outs, and playing every minute in goal this season.
