Coaches' Bios

Head Coach - John Cappiello


John Cappiello brings to the GBC women’s soccer program over 15 years of coaching experience. He most recently served as the head men’s soccer coach at Point Park University (NAIA) for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He also held the positions of Delaware ODP head coach (2005-06) and head coach of the Kirkwood Phantoms/U-18 Girls/USYSA Delaware State Champion (2005-06) teams.  

Cappiello has also served as head men’s coach at Delaware Tech Stanton Community College (2002-04), head men’s and women’s coach at Cecil Community College (1999-01), Delaware ODP U-17 girls head coach (2000-04), head coach of the Kirkwood Blue Monkeys/U-12 & U-13 Girls (2003), and head coach of the Miramonte High School boys team (1991-98).  

He earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his MBA from the University of San Francisco.


Assistant Coach – Mike MacIver

Mike MacIver is a graduate of the Brazilian Football Academy and comes to Goldey-Beacom with 11 years of coaching experience. He has served as the Head Coach at Delaware Technical Community College and the Delaware Olympic Development Program (ODP). Mike has worked in the club arena coaching the DSB Kickers and the CDSA Power to four state championships each. Mike has also worked on the professional level as the trainer for various Jamaican and Tanzanian club sides.
 

Assistant Coach - Frank Hillson

Frank Hillson is a retired Air Force officer with a wealth of soccer experience. With nine years of coaching, mainly in the military community (dependant youth activities), he has held Head and Assistant Coach positions at military installations in Alabama, Colorado, New Jersey, Virginia, and also while stationed overseas in Germany. In college he was a mid-fielder winning All Southern Conference honors and was co-captain of his team his senior year. After graduation he played on various military teams during his Air Force career. Coach Hillson earned his undergraduate degree from the Virginia Military Institute and his masters from the College of William and Mary.
