Katie Mazzio scored
as time expired in the first half and Chrissy
Bevenour stopped eight shots for her third shutout of the season as Wilmington
College blanked Goldey-Beacom College, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon in Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s soccer action at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
The
Lightning (1-4-1, 0-1 CACC) are now winless in their last five contests and
have just four goals in their last 393:56 seconds of play.
Mazzio
scored off an indirect kick from Dee Szymanski to close the half with Wilmington (5-0, 2-0
CACC) leading 1-0. Second half tallies by Begum Malali and Colby Bugda (penalty
kick) capped the scoring as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to five
games.
Sophomore Stephanie Steele (Wilmington, DE)
made 12 saves for Goldey-Beacom, who was outshot 24-10.
The
Lightning return to action this Saturday when they travel to New
York to take on Nyack
College at noon.
