LAKEWOOD, NJ (October 27, 2004) – Sophomore Kelli Parsons (Hockessin, DE) scored her first goal of the season
with under 20 minutes remaining in regulation to give Goldey-Beacom College a 2-1
over Georgian Court College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s
soccer action in New Jersey.
Senior Kristin Johnston (Delaware City, DE)
also scored for the Lightning, who improved to 6-9-2 with the win and 5-3-1 in
conference play. Georgian Court,
meanwhile, saw its record fall to 4-8-2 with the loss and 2-6-2 in the
conference.
Goldey-Beacom
took a 1-0 lead into halftime following Johnston’s
third goal of the season at 44:30 and pushed it to 2-0 when Parsons tallied at
70:11. The Lions answered back at 77:46 when Maria Lombardi scored her fourth
goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Georgian Court failed to score the
equalizer in the final 12 minutes.
Sophomore Stephanie Steele (Wilmington, DE)
made nine saves to improve to 5-6-1 on the season. Jamie Kaiser made seven
saves in defeat.
