BLOOMFIELD, NJ (September 22, 2004) –
The Goldey-Beacom
College women’s soccer team snapped its five-game winless streak with a 3-0
shutout of Bloomfield College Wednesday afternoon in Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference women’s soccer action.
Junior Lori Knabb
(Paulsboro, NJ), sophomore April Yanacek (Wilmington, DE) and freshman Alexis Frederick (Hockessin, DE) scored
for the Lightning (2-4-1, 1-0 CACC), who have scored six goals in their last
three games after scoring just three in the prior three contests.
Goldey-Beacom
scored the only goal of the first half at 40:45 when Yanacek
notched her fourth goal of the season to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead going
into the half. Knabb increased the lead to 2-0 when
she scored at 74:20 and Frederick
capped the scoring just 1:05 later with her third tally of the year at 75:25.
Heather Letts made 12 saves in defeat for Bloomfield
while sophomore Stephanie Steele (Wilmington, DE)
stopped four shots for GBC.
The Lightning return to action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Massachusetts to take on
No. 22 Merrimack at 11 a.m.
