WILMINGTON, DE (March 16, 2005) – Kutztown University swept a doubleheader from Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference softball action at the GBC Softball Complex in Wilmington.

The Lightning dropped the opener 11-0 before suffering a 4-3 loss in extra innings in the nightcap.

Stacy Bricker went 2-for-3 with three RBI while Erin Livingston knocked in two runs for the Bears (8-6) in game one while Jackie Messina, Tarin Moronzy, Lindsay Bennett and Dani Spalik each registered an RBI on the afternoon.

In game two, Stacy Bricker scored on a fielding error in the top of the eighth and Sara Cook singled home Jennifer Lincoln to give the Bears a 4-2 lead. The Lightning cut the deficit to 4-3 when freshman Jillian Murphy (Wilmington, DE) scored on a wild pitch before freshman Megan Harper (Atco, NJ) was thrown out at home to end the game on a throw by center fielder Adriane Willmer.

Senior Holly Kimble (Millsboro, DE) and sophomore Sarah Gehman (Wilmington, DE) each drove in a run for the Lightning in the second game.

Stacy Denlinger picked up the win for Kutztown in game one, hurling seven shutout innings while allowing six hits and striking out six. Senior Tiffany Frick (Pennsauken, NJ) suffered the loss for the Lightning (2-6), allowing 11 runs (nine earned) in seven innings of work. Cheryl Griffith picked up the win in game two, allowing three runs (one earned) in eight innings of work, striking out eight. Freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE) took the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out five in eight innings of work.

The Lightning return to action this Saturday when they host CACC rival Bloomfield College at 1 p.m.
