WILMINGTON, DE (April 19, 2005) – Sherry Keech
and Jade Reid each fired complete game shutouts as Georgian Court College swept
a doubleheader from Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday
afternoon, posting identical 1-0 wins in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
softball action at the GBC Softball Complex in Wilmington.
Keech
allowed just two hits and struck out seven in game one, outdueling
Lighting senior starter Tiffany Frick (Wilmington, DE),
who allowed four hits and one run in 6.1 IP. The game’s only run came in the
top of the seventh when Jennifer McGovern singled home Stacey Ryan with two
outs.
In the
nightcap, Reid allowed just four hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of
work. Freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE)
was nearly as good for Goldey-Beacom, allowing one
run on five hits while striking out six in seven innings. Julie Sito singled home Ashley Wierema
with two outs in the top of the sixth inning to propel the Lions (20-12, 7-5
CACC) to victory.
