WILMINGTON, DE (April 13, 2005) – Junior Lori Knabb (Paulsboro, NJ) singled in two runs in game one and
freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE)
pitched a six-hit shutout in the nightcap as the Goldey-Beacom College softball
team swept a doubleheader from Holy Family University, winning game one 3-2 and
game two 4-0 at the GBC Softball Complex Wednesday afternoon in Wilmington.
The wins
extended the Lightning (11-11, 3-3 CACC) winning streak to four games while the
Tigers fell to 16-11 (5-5 CACC) with the losses.
Following
Knabb’s RBI single in the second to give GBC a 2-0 lead, senior Tiffany Frick (
In game
two, Russell singled in Frick in the bottom of the first for what proved to be
the only run the Lightning would need. They tacked on three more runs in the
bottom of the fourth behind an RBI single from senior Devon O’Brien (Wilmington, DE) and both freshman Bridget Mount (Levittown, PA) and
O’Brien scored on Tigers’ errors.
Frick
picked up her fifth win of the season in game one, allowing two runs on seven
hits in 4.2 IP while Russell struck out four in game two.
