CALDWELL, NJ (April 24, 2005) – Anna Dahl drove in four runs and
both Dahl and Jessica Saunders tossed complete-game shutouts as Caldwell
College swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader from
Goldey-Beacom College Sunday afternoon, winning game one 8-0 and game two 3-0
at Caldwell Field in New Jersey.
Alyssa
Speno drove in three runs for the Cougars (28-8, 13-2 CACC) to help cool of a
Lightning team (17-15, 7-7 CACC) that has won 10 of their last 12 games.
Game one
was called after four and a half innings after the Cougars tagged Goldey-Beacom
pitchers Tiffany Frick (Wilmington,
DE) and Brandy Ash (Dagsboro,
DE) for eight runs (six
earned) on six hits. Dahl picked up the win, allowing two hits in five innings
of work with two strikeouts.
In the
nightcap, freshman Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE)
went 2-for-3 at the plate and also hurled six innings for the Lightning,
allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out two. Saunders, meanwhile,
scattered six hits while striking out 10.
