WILMINGTON, DE (October 13, 2004) – Julian Appiah scored the game’s only
goal at 33:56 to give the University of the District of Columbia a 1-0 win over
Goldey-Beacom College in men’s soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Nancy
Churchman Sawin Athletic Field.
The
Lightning (2-12-1) are now winless in their last eight games and have not
scored a goal in their last 340:16 minutes of play, a span of over three games.
Alvin
Quarza was credited with the assist on Appiah’s game-winning goal which moved
the University of the District of
Columbia to 8-4-2 on the season.
Senior
goalkeeper Bryan Rudden (Landenberg, PA)
made 10 saves in defeat for Goldey-Beacom in a game marred with fouls and ejections.
The Lightning were charged with 18 fouls while the Firebirds received 17 and
both teams saw a player ejected after receiving his second yellow card in the
second half.
