BLOOMFIELD, NJ (September 21, 2004) –
Junior Bruno Farias (Recife, Brazil) scored two goals and senior Dan DiGiacobbe
(Newark, DE) had three assists as the Goldey-Beacom College men’s soccer
team snapped its five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Bloomfield College
Tuesday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
Senior Lewis Hodges (Newark,
DE) and Tony Benedetto (Newark, DE)
also scored for the Lightning (2-5, 1-1 CACC), who outshot
the Deacons (0-4, 0-1 CACC) 23-10.
Hodges
opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he converted a pass from senior Mike DiGiacobbe (Newark, DE)
to put Goldey-Beacom in front 1-0. Benedetto increased
the lead to 2-0 in the ninth minute before two goals by Bloomfield’s Collin John evened the scored at
2-2. The Lightning struck back in the 36th minute when Farias scored to make it 3-2 at the half.
The
Lightning added an insurance goal when Farias scored
his second goal of the game and third of the season in the 64th minute to make
it 4-2 and cap the scoring.
The Lightning return to action Sunday when they travel to Boston, MA to take on Merrimack College at 1 p.m.
