SPRINGFIELD, MA (September 5, 2004) –
Chris Laut scored
three times in a span of 14:18 and Rafael Henckel added three assists as
Assumption College scored four goals in the second half to down Goldey-Beacom
College, 5-2, in men’s soccer action Monday afternoon in Massachusetts.
Seniors Matt DiGiacobbe and Dan DiGiacobbe, both residents of
Newark, DE, each scored for the Lightning (1-3), who dropped their
third-straight game following a 2-1 win over Molloy College in their
season-opener.
Jared Stand
opened the scoring for Assumption (1-0-2) at 10:57, scoring unassisted to put
the Greyhounds in front 1-0. Matt DiGiacobbe tied the game just minutes later
when he scored off a feed from junior Jason
Carty (
Laut evened
the game at two for Assumption at 62:40 when he scored off a feed from Rafael
Henckel and gave the Greyhounds the lead 12 minutes later, scoring off another
feed from Henckel. He completed the hat trick with a goal at 76:18. Matt
DiDomenico tallied at 80:18 to put the game away for the Greyhounds.
