2006-2007

The Lightning once again qualified for the NCAA Division II Northeast Region golf tournament at Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling, WV, where they finished in fifth place. They fired a team total of 970 for the tournament. GBC finished in 2nd place at the 2007 CACC Golf Championships with a one-day score of 312, one stroke behind first place Post University. Senior Steven Cutler (Kennett Square, PA) finished second overall and just one stroke behind the winner. Cutler earned All-CACC honors with his second place finish. Cutler also earned CACC Golfer of the Week honors four times throughout the season.

2005-2006

The 2006 season was one of the most successful seasons in GBC golf history. The Lightning capped off their season by winning the NCAA Division II Northeast Super Regional in Wheeling, WV. Michael Tobiason led the way for the Lightning by firing a 221 overall total en route to the individual title. Mark Agnew placed fifth overall with a 234 total. GBC also finished in 2nd place at the 2006 CACC Golf Championships in New Haven, CT. Senior Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) finished in a tie for first place at 144 along with teammate junior Steven Cutler (Kennett Square, PA).  Tobiason and Cutler were named co-Players of the Year and Jim Mahoney was named Coach of the Year. The team also finished in fourth place at the 2005 ECAC Division II Men's Golf Championships in Liverpool, NY. Tobiason finished in a tie for second place at +3 (143).

2003-2004

The fall 2003 golf season got off to a roaring success with a third place finish in the Wesley College Fall Invitational, losing only to Wesley and Delaware by 4 strokes. Sophomore Mike Tobiason led the way finishing in third place with a score of 73. This was the first time that the GBC team had all four players score below 80. In the other four fall events, the team finished with three firsts and a second place. Individual highlights included Steve Cutler (Fr.) with a 70, Captain Chris Ciupinski (Jr.) with a 72, and Nick Nardo (So.) with a 72 at Pennsauken Country Club (USP).

The 2004 Spring season was played in generally miserable weather. It was, however a huge success. Two first place finishes and two seconds in the six regular season events led the team into the CACC Conference Championship Tournament with high hopes of repeating last season’s victory. They were not disappointed, winning the CACC crown for the second straight year. They defeated Teikyo Post University by a margin of 14 strokes in the 27 hole event at Hartefeld National. Mike Tobiason led the way for the second time, earning medalist honors with a score of 109. Joining Mike on the All-Conference Team were Steve Cutler and Mike Clair (Jr.). Barely missing out on All-Conference honors were Chris Ciupinski (11th) and Nick Nardo (12th). Three GBC golfers qualified for the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament, based on their scoring averages during the season. The event was played at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, PA. It was a great feat to be selected. Mike Tobiason finished 10th, Steve Cutler finished 16th, and Nick Nardo finished 34th out of 45 golfers. Congratulations to all!

2002-2003

The 2002-2003 golf season was a most successful one. Highlights included a second place tie in the Pioneer Invitational (Widener U.), and winning the CACC Conference Championship thereby earning a spot in the NAIA Regional in Cape Cod. The individual scoring average for the season was 83.5. Mike Tobiason, Nick Nardo, and Steve Connell (all freshmen) were named to the All-Conference Team. Tobiason was the individual medalist in the conference tournament, and was also named to the NAIA All-Region Team. The team finished with a record of 39 wins, 14 losses, and 1 tie. The players voted the team’s MVP Tobiason. Chris Ciupinski was named Most Improved, lowering his scoring average by 5 strokes over last season, and Steve Connell was named Best Newcomer for the season.

2001-2002

Our 2001-2002 Season was a learning experience for all involved. Our team, composed primarily of novice golfers, took on a difficult schedule for its first season. In spite of solid performances by our Seniors Mike Loney and Yosuke Naito, and Freshman Chris Ciupinski, our team finished in 5th place at the CACC Championship Tournament.

Contributions from teammates Sophomore Eric Bell, Freshmen Adam Blood and Mike Novy were critical in many of our more successful ventures such as our first tournament win on September 26th at Hartefeld National Golf Club over Widener University and Swarthmore College. Some of the toughest opponents this past season include: Division I University of Delaware, Division II Dominican College as well as the Division III powerhouse Wesley College.
