Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a charge for this service?

    • The service subscriptions are free, but individual's phone plans may charge for receipt of text messages.  GBC does not send out adertisements via this service.

  • How do I sign up for the GBC Notification System?

    • If you are a student, faculty member, staff member, parent, or alumni, please go to the "Create your Account" page and enter your information. Cell phone numbers must be validated by entering a four digit code sent to the phone via a text message. E-mails are validated by clicking a link contained in the confirmation e-mail.

  • How do I opt out (remove myself) from receiving the alerts and updates?

    • Please log into your account to opt-out of alerts and/or updates from the College. You may opt-out of one particular group or the entire service. 

  • What exactly is e2Campus?

    • e2Campus is a patent pending universal notification system that allows designated administrators to send time-sensitive messages to the cell phones and e-mail of their subscribers (students, faculty, staff, and others). In the event of an emergency, subscribers can be notified immediately of the situation, wherever they are geographically.

  • Can I change my contact preferences?

    • Yes. You can log into your account to change your account settings and add different e-mail addresses or phone numbers.

  • Do I need to install software and/or hardware in order to use the GBC Notification System?

    • No. e2Campus is a 100% web-based software system, so you do not need any additional software or hardware. All you need is a web browser with an Internet connection and you are up and running!  You can look at e2Campus as a Public Safety "Utility" - always on and ready for action.

  • Will I receive unsolicited messages ("spam") on my cell phone?

    • No. e2Campus enforces a zero spam policy which clearly prohibits unsolicited messages, and e2Campus does not sell the contact information of our subscribers to third party marketers.

  • How do I control how I receive notifications?

    • You are given an opportunity to choose whether you want to receive notifications via cell phone text message or by e-mail.  You can also specify one other alternate contact number and e-mail address.  You will also be able to select which categories of notifications you wish to receive.

  • What is the actual registration process?

    • Click here for text messages:

        Make sure you have your cell phone accessible.
        Go to the link provided in the left menu to 'Create Your Account'.
        Fill in the information required.
        Make sure you select the group messages you would like to receive and an expected graduation date.
        Once you receive the text message on your cell with the four-digit validation code, click 'Validate Mobile Phone.'
        A new page should indicate that you have successfully registered.
        Click 'Login' then use the username and password you just created.
        Click on the 'Services' tab to add your e-mail address and/or another cell phone number.
        Be sure to go back and update the information anytime you have a new cell phone, new carrier, or new e-mail address.

        Click the link provided in the left menu to 'Create Your Account'.
        In the third paragraph, click the link 'to register to receive alerts via e-mail'.
        Fill in the information required.
        You will receive a validation e-mail for each address you register.
        In order to complete your registration, you must click the link in the validation e-mail to confirm your address.
        A new page should indicate that you have successfully registered.
        To add another e-mail address, click 'Login', then use the username and password you just created.
        Click on the 'Services' tab and repeat the process.
        Be sure to go back and update the information anytime you have a change in your e-mail address.
