Admissions Procedures for Graduate Students

Individuals completing a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university and exhibiting evidence of the ability and preparation necessary for satisfactory completion of graduate work are invited to apply to the Graduate Program.

Admission to the graduate program is based on evaluations of both objective and subjective criteria. Each applicant will be required to submit:

  1. An application form that is carefully and thoughtfully prepared.
  2. A statement of intentions explaining why you wish to pursue a graduate degree.
  3. Official transcript indicating receipt of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  4. Score on Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) before completion of 9 graduate credit hours. (See standardized test requirements for additional information.)
  5. Two letters of recommendation preferably from faculty members and/or employers.

Interviews may be required by the Office of Graduate Studies or requested by the applicant. Please call (302) 225-6257 to discuss the program or to arrange for an interview.

The decision to accept applicants into the graduate programs will be made after a review of completed applications. Emphasis will be placed on the following factors:

  1. Evidence of intellectual capacity.
  2. Motivation for pursuing a graduate degree.
  3. Evidence of leadership capability.

Graduate Application Deadlines

Students are admitted for enrollment in August, January, and May of each year. Complete application packages should be submitted as far in advance as possible to ensure timely processing.

Consult the graduate application packet for the exact dates for the graduate programs. Applications are not considered complete until all required credentials are received.

Standardized Test Requirements (GMAT)

The Graduate Management Admission Test is required prior to registration for the third graduate course at Goldey-Beacom College. The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) may be considered as a substitute, although the GMAT is preferred.  The student who has demonstrated ability to succeed in the graduate programs through any of the following indicators may be exempted from the GMAT requirement:

  1. proven excellence in the business work environment
  2. undergraduate cumulative grade point average in excess of 3.0 in a business or closely related major
  3. competent performance in another standardized graduate test, or
  4. academic excellence in a graduate-level degree program
